Joining the dots between Liz Truss and Sinn Fein. Loads more interest rate rises coming. But to what end? UK immigration debacle: another resignation is overdue
Signs of recession everywhere
It may not be obvious, but what lessons can Sinn Fein learn from the Liz Truss disaster? Maybe the same ones as Italy’s new ultra ideologue leader. Reality can be a hard taskmaster for populist politicians.
UK politics are still a mess with yet another massive controversy over immigration, phones, ‘Leaky Sue’ and the fact that we are overdue another high profile resignation. Political controversy is one thing but does economic policy make sense now that the ‘adults’ are in charge? Policy is now very pro-cyclical: taxes are going up, government spending down interest rates up. Does hitting the economy hard make much sense when that same economy is in recession already?
Is Lula all good news for Brazil and the Rainforest?
All this and much more in the latest episode of The Other Hand!
Which would be such a shame
Congratulations Jim on your completion of the Dublin Marathon in a very respectable time!
Loved the comparison of Sinn Fein’s Eoin O’Broin to Liz Truss ... they need to think before putting their right-wing foot in it!!!
Lots in this podcast - I’m worried about the US elections ...how can so many people contemplate voting for such conservative bigots and misogynistic people ... especially when they are female? Just bizarre
Interesting times for Ukraine - looks like Trump’s love of the Russians has blinded a lot of people.
