Reality comes at you hard sometimes, particularly if you have built your career on denial. Brexit isn’t the only cause of British woes but any recovery must start with the taboo of Brexit silence being broken. There are straws in the wind that this is happening - but only straws. The Brexit ultras are as determined to carry on fighting as were those Japanese soldiers found still in their tattered combat gear years after the second world war ended.
The British political class must face up to Brexit disaster reality. Until then, nothing can be fixed. There must be a new dispensation.

Hi Chris, great show today flying solo. I think people in Ireland have been rather amused and some way bemused looking at UK politics over the last few years. But this is different, this is having a detrimental negative impact on normal people now. I have family, friends and colleagues in the UK and I am worried for them. They are really concerned themselves. I could hear the concern in your own voice today. In my opinion, these so called politicians and Brexit supporters have been able to shelter behind Covid as it masked the unmitigated disaster that is Brexit. They cannot hide behind this anymore and it is becoming clear just how isolated and exposed the UK is. You cannot walk away from a 50 year partnership and expect everything to be just fine. I wonder will a Labour government consider rejoining the EU? I feel really frustrated watching this, I can only imagine how the British feel. Anyway, enjoyed the show today. Thank you
