I have a general comment. There has been much discussion about how Brexit has negatively impacted the UK. This was, of course, entirely predictable. However, there has been much less discussion about how little impact it has had on Ireland, and farmers in particular. Beef prices are up, sheep prices are up? What happened to all the scare stories about Brexit's impact on Irish farmers?
Exports of Agri Food to Great Britain are down by over 25%, but trade with NI is booming. Imports of food from GB down by over 2 bln in first 4 months, so that is boosting domestic demand via import substitution. EU beef prices quite firm at the moment based on demand/supply as i understand it. I intend to do much more analysis on this topic once pandemic distortions start to play fade out of the system.
