It’s the same in the USA, both Ireland and USA economies have good growth figures , GDP/GNP etc. Yet neither government is seeing the benefits in the polls. Why is this? I believe it’s all this inflation, many people don’t feel rich despite having higher incomes. Take home pay is being wiped from all these higher costs.

Thanks for the response, I always maintained the ECB will give up the inflation battle to avoid a recession by cutting rates. Like prices are still rising, people’s incomes may be up in general but so are their costs .

Take Ireland, government/media always love to spin how great our economy is but many people don’t feel rich as Food. Rent, insurance, fuel and houses continue to go up even further every month.

I love to know the number of people who have to take on more jobs to meet these costs. Any data available I wonder. I know lots of people who have taken a second job or set up a business on top of their main income to supplement this.

Guys oil prices have increased significantly the past month, excise also back up this month. The battle on inflation has not been won. It will only get worse. Why do you think interest rates should be cut ? If anything they need to go up more. The 2% inflation rate was supposed to be a ceiling not a floor like it’s been reported. If/when ECB cuts interest rates, this will drive it up even more. If the economy is so strong as reported, why do we need to cut rates.Just wondering whats your theory on all this?

Yes - we sort of commented on your points. Particularly oil prices. I do think there is abuilding case for no or very few US rate cuts. It's different in the EU - the weak economy is, gradually, pulling the inflation number down.
