Interesting question?

My response is - you pick the news source that is most similar to your way of thinking!!

That’s a form of confirmation bias of course. Which is why it is important to read outside your bubble (hence my inclusion of The Spectator in my weekly list). Your question raises another one: where does your way of thinking come from? And yet another question: does it ever change?

I read copious articles, I listen right leaning people’s opinions, in one sided or full discussions depending on my energy levels.

I watch the English-speaking news RTÉ, bbc, itv,Sky and often real the Australian snippets too, used to read and listen to NYT and Bloomberg - but stopped

The big difference from 2-3 years ago is that I’ve reduced my exposure to protect myself

And yes - I agree - it is confirmation bias!😁

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's an easy way for Starmer to win the next election: just before it, in late 2028 or early 2029, say "If we win, we'll hold another referendum to return to the EU". Sure, the right wing press will go crazy, but there's 60+% of the country who are desperate for that to happen. Surely they will vote accordingly, no?

Yes, 60%+ now think Brexit was a terrible idea but that’s not quite the same thing as saying they are committed rejoiners. might not be wholly consistent but there we are. most people say they would rather not think about it and don’t want to relitigate the Brexit wars. Me, I totally agree with you!

A lot will depend on the polls in late 2028 early 2029 time. I'll admit Starmer has been disappointing to date, but if they're under water to Reform in 3 years time and they're asking "What can we do to give ourselves a boost?" it's the obvious play. It was easy for them to win the last election without mentioning Brexit. Next time, promising to reverse it might be the key.
